Expansion
The central government has given a big gift to Bihar. The government has approved the capacity expansion stage-2 of Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station (NSTPS) of Aurangabad, which is wholly owned by NTPC Ltd. and has a thermal power generation capacity of 1980 MW. Under stage-2, three new units with 800 MW power generation capacity each will be installed at NSTPS. With the installation of three new units, the total power generation capacity of NSTPS will increase from 1,800 MW to 4,380 MW. This will make this project the second largest thermal power project in the country with maximum power generation. Under the approval given by the Center, an investment of more than Rs 25 thousand crore will be made for the capacity expansion of NSTPS. This investment is the largest investment so far for any project in Bihar. Tender will be issued soon for the expansion of 2,400 MW power generation capacity of the project.
The picture of Aurangabad will change with an investment of 25 thousand crores,
According to sources in the Central Government and the Ministry of Energy, under Stage-2 of NSTPS, an investment of more than Rs 25,000 crore will be made to bring three new units of 800 MW each (total 2,400 MW) of power generation capacity to the ground. This will be the biggest investment ever made for any project in Bihar. This investment will change the picture of this entire area. This will increase employment opportunities and bring economic prosperity to the area. Directly and indirectly, new means of employment will be available for thousands of people. Along with this, it will also help a lot in the all-round development of the area under rehabilitation and restoration and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Under this head, basic facilities worth crores of rupees will be provided in the district, especially in the project affected area. Such a large project will require extensive human resources and this investment will encourage every economic activity.
At present, there are two power projects in Nabinagar. One of them is Bharatiya Rail Bijli Company Ltd. (BRBCL), a joint venture of Indian Railways and NTPC, with a power generation capacity of 1,000 MW, while the other is Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station (NSTPS), wholly owned by NTPC Ltd. Its current power generation capacity is 1,980 MW. The picture of Aurangabad has changed with the construction of these two projects. This time the Center has approved projects bigger than these two projects. From this, one can easily guess how big a change will come in the development of the region and to what extent the infrastructure will be developed. With the investment of a large amount in Stage-2 of the project and the completion of the project, Bihar will get an increase of crores of rupees in revenue every year in the form of various types of taxes.
